F. M. Burgett was a contributor to the classic volume A Treasury of American Folklore edited by Harry Stillwell and published in 1927 by Doubleday, Doran & Co. He wrote hundreds of articles for various periodicals from about 1885 to 1930, many of which appeared in McClure's Magazine
He also authored ten books on folklore and wrote for radio and television, including several episodes of the old time radio show Lights Out!.
